2009 In Review

What a busy year it has been for Sifu David Peterson in 2009 thus far. Not only has he travelled twice to the UK to conduct seminars and workshops in ‘WSLVT’ in both Manchester (Stockport) and Southampton, he also had a return trip to Osaka, once again teaching students from all over Japan at the ‘Powerarts’ gym of ‘MCMAC’ alumni, Sifu Blair Johnston.

During the year, the ‘MCMAC’ was also heavily involved with the promotion of the feature-length action drama, ‘Ip Man’ and this resulted (in collaboration with our resident photographer extraordinaire, Brett Brogan) in the production of a 37 minute documentary (‘WING CHUN: the Legacy of Ip Man’) that is now featured on the Australasian DVD release of ‘Grandmaster Ip Man’, on the ‘Madman Entertainment - Eastern Eye’ label. David also provided the feature-length commentary on the DVD!

He was also invited to act as a consultant for an episode of the ‘Discovery Channel’ TV series, ‘Fight Quest’, and his book and DVDs were used as reference material in the production of ‘Ip Man 2’, the sequel to the original film due for release early next year. Somewhere in there, David also found time to produce his third instructional DVD (thanks again, Brett!) on the ‘Muk Yan Jong’ form, which will be available from our good friends at ‘Cranes Production’ very soon. Thanks to the excellent support given by ‘MCMAC’ “1st Officer” Darren Elvey, who kept classes running smoothly in his absence, David also managed to conduct seminars in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia too!
